How many nomination places does New South Wales have?

NSW has not yet published its 2026-27 allocation. In 2025-26, NSW received 3,600 places: 2,100 for the Subclass 190 and 1,500 for the Subclass 491. The 2025-26 Subclass 190 allocation was used in full before 30 June 2026. NSW describes its nomination programme as exceptionally competitive and encourages applicants to consider other visa pathways as well.

Which occupations are eligible for New South Wales state nomination?

Your occupation must fall within an ANZSCO unit group on the NSW Skills List. It must also be eligible for the Subclass 190 on the Home Affairs occupation list. The Skills List works at the four-digit unit group level, so not every occupation within a listed group is eligible. You also need a valid skills assessment for that occupation. Occupations outside the list will not be considered for an invitation.

Recent New South Wales nomination invitation rounds

NSW expects its first 2026-27 Subclass 190 round in the week starting 19 October 2026. NSW does not announce round dates in advance and does not publish minimum invited scores. It ranks EOIs within each unit group using age, English, education, points score and years of skilled work. The date you submitted or updated your EOI does not affect your chance of an invitation.

How many points do I need for New South Wales state nomination?

An EOI needs at least 65 points on the Home Affairs points test, and NSW nomination adds 5 points for the Subclass 190. NSW does not publish minimum invited scores. Because NSW ranks EOIs within each unit group, a competitive profile varies widely by occupation. Make sure every claim in your EOI can be backed by valid documents before the round.
